McCarthy has been actively involved in personal injury litigation and medical malpractice litigation as a trial attorney since his graduation from Boston College Law School in 1961. From 1961 to the present, Attorney McCarthy exclusively concentrated his trial practice in the area of personal injury litigation and medical malpractice. Over the years, Attorney McCarthy has tried all types of complex and difficult medical and personal injury litigation cases. He has had the distinction of representing hundreds of clients throughout Massachusetts in the Federal and State Courts. He has successfully tried cases involving the area of medical malpractice, product liability, sport related injuries, lead paint cases, defective products, catastrophic auto injuries, general liability cases and construction injuries. Most of the cases that Attorney McCarthy tries are jury cases and have gone to jury verdict. Jim McCarthy has also successfully represented his clients both in court mandated mediation and arbitration hearings. Attorney McCarthy has the distinction of winning the first multi-million dollar medical verdict in Massachusetts in 1978 resulting in a favorable verdict for his client for 5.3 Million Dollars. Jim McCarthy has also litigated and successfully tried numerous product liability cases and faulty defective products including machine presses, protective head gear, defective automobiles, and has also successfully handled many medical malpractice cases involving misdiagnosis of breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer. One of his successful cancer cases involving the misreading of PAP smears resulted in a major Massachusetts medical laboratory being shut down by the Department of Public Health. Jim McCarthy has also had success in the area of helmet related injuries involving serious head and brain injuries. He was trial counsel in the significant brain injury case involving a pole vaulter at MIT who sustained a serious brain injury which resulted in a verdict of over $830,000.00. This case is considered a leading case in brain injury and brain trauma and was reported by the Massachusetts Appellate Court, Garret Moose v. Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 43 App. Ct. 420, 683 N.E.2d 706 (1997). Attorney McCarthy is admitted to practice law in all of the state courts in Massachusetts as well as the Federal Court in Massachusetts. Jim McCarthy is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers. Jim McCarthy lives in Boston with his wife Mary, and has four children. Michael M. D'Isola has been an active trial lawyer since his graduation from Suffolk University Law School in 1986. During the past thirteen years he has exclusively concentrated his trial practice in the area of personal injury litigation representing clients who have been injured by another person's negligence. Michael D'Isola has a broad range of experience handling cases involving complex legal and medical issues. Over his career Michael D'Isola has represented hundreds of clients throughout Massachusetts in both state and federal courts on many diverse cases involving medical malpractice, product liability, auto accidents and general liability. In addition, to trying cases before a jury Michael D'Isola has also presented cases to mediation and arbitration panels. Michael D'Isola has handled medical malpractice cases involving wrongful birth, misdiagnosis of cancer, and birth trauma. His product liability experience includes litigating against manufactures of defective products such automobiles, machine presses, protective headgear and large industrial machines. Michael D'Isola has handled numerous auto accident cases and many general liability cases such as slip and falls, sports related accidents and construction site accidents. Michael D'Isola was co-counsel in a recent case reported by the Massachusetts Appellate Court, Garret Moose v. Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 43 Mass.App.Ct. 420, 683 N.E.2d 706 (1997) involving a serious sporting accident with resulting significant brain injury. Michael D'Isola is admitted to practice in all Massachusetts State courts as well the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Michael D'Isola is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.
